FAQ

What You Need to Know

Do you perform any physical examinations?

As a doula, I am not qualified to do physical examinations. That is a job for the nurses, doctors, and midwives to do!

How will hiring you affect my partner’s role during the birth?

If you hire me, I highly recommend your partner to join one of the prenatal visits. That way I can talk to them, find out their concerns and questions, as well as the roles that they wish to be a part of.

On top of that, I will teach them different techniques to help you during labour and delivery. This can include assisting you in certain positions, comfort techniques, and bringing you things that you may need/want.

Newborn care will be one of the topics at our prenatal visits, so your partner can feel free to join in for that and learn a bunch of baby care techniques as well:)

I am here not only to support the birthing person, but also the partner & family!

It's important that your partner feels confident and at peace with what's happening, so I will be there to help with any questions or concerns that they may have!

What are your interactions with medical staff like?

So far, I have had no problems with medical staff. I can't speak for every medical staff member that I may encounter in the future, but so far, so good! What I've experienced while being a doula, is that the medical staff and I work together fantastically! We both have a similar mission, and prefer to work together as a team! We each have jobs that we specialize in, and when we put those specialties together, It helps create a way better environment and birthing experience for our client/patient!
